About this experience

Experience one of Tanzania's most spectacular Kilimanjaro routes on a 7-day Lemosho Route trek. The journey begins at Londorossi Gate and gradually crosses the mountain's diverse ecological zones, from lush rainforest to high-altitude moorland, alpine desert and the summit zone.
The Lemosho Route is known for its beautiful scenery and gradual approach, providing valuable time for acclimatization. Each day is guided by an experienced professional mountain guide and supported by a trained mountain crew.
The trek passes through Mti Mkubwa, Shira, Barranco, Karanga and Barafu, before the challenging summit attempt to Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres (19,341 ft), the highest point in Africa.
After reaching the summit, descend through the Mweka Route toward Mweka Gate, where your vehicle will meet you for the transfer to Moshi.

Important information

  • Info: Weather conditions on Mount Kilimanjaro can change rapidly. Summit success depends on weather, altitude acclimatization and individual fitness. The itinerary may be adjusted by the mountain guide when necessary for safety. The summit attempt begins during the night/early morning to reach Uhuru Peak around sunrise.
  • Requirements: Participants should have a good level of fitness and be prepared for long days of walking at high altitude. Previous high-altitude trekking experience is helpful but not essential. Guests should follow the guide's instructions and acclimatize gradually. A medical consultation before attempting Kilimanjaro is recommended.
  • Accessibility: Not suitable for wheelchair users or people with significant mobility impairments. The trek involves steep, uneven and rocky mountain trails and extended periods of walking at high altitude.

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), where you will be met by a Kiwia Africa Tours representative and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. After check-in and rest, meet your mountain guide for a trek briefing and equipment check. Your guide will review the route, safety procedures and summit preparations. Enjoy the evening at leisure and prepare for your Kilimanjaro adventure starting the following morning.

Lemosho Gate β†’ Mti Mkubwa Camp

After breakfast and a briefing in Moshi, drive to Londorossi Gate for registration and park formalities. Begin trekking through the lush montane rainforest toward Mti Mkubwa Camp. Celebrate your achievement and take photographs before beginning the long descent through Barafu toward Mweka Camp.
