Trek Begins – Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

8:00 AM – 1:00 PM (5.00h)

📍 Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut

After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Marangu Gate (1,860m) to complete registration formalities. Begin your trek through lush rainforest, home to colobus monkeys and diverse birdlife, ascending gently to Mandara Hut (2,700m) where you'll spend your first night on the mountain.

Trek Continues – Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut

After breakfast, continue trekking as the rainforest gives way to open moorland with heather and giant lobelias. Enjoy clear views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks as you ascend to Horombo Hut (3,720m), where you'll spend two nights for acclimatization.

Trek Continues – Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut

Trek across the alpine desert of the "saddle" between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks, with vegetation becoming increasingly sparse. Arrive at Kibo Hut (4,700m) in the early afternoon for an early dinner and rest, as you'll begin your summit push shortly after midnight.

Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak, Descend to Horombo Hut

Continue along the crater edge to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. After celebrating your achievement, descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest and lunch, then continue down to Horombo Hut (3,720m) for the night.
